And In Other News ...

... We're expecting twins!

OK not really twins, but there will be two new additions to our little family. In fact, we expect them Friday.

No, Just Mom hasn't been keeping a secret for nine months. Goodness! Judging by the way I grew when I was expecting Just Son, there's no way I'd be able to keep that kind of thing a secret for even nine weeks! The thing is, Just Family will be welcoming two beautiful, loving male kittens named Just Cat 1 and Just Cat 2 in to our home Friday. (By the way, those aren't really their names. I thought I'd just throw that out there as a possibility.)

It all started when we decided to watch a friend's kittens for a couple of hours late last month. We enjoyed that so much that we agreed to watch the kittens again this past Labor Day weekend to really get a feel for what it would be like to have a pet. We all had fun with them when my friend brought the kittens over Friday. And then, the unexpected happened. We fell in love with the brothers.

They're originally strays (likely abandoned by their mother) that were taken to a vet when they were very little. They were cared for by the vet until my friend took them in while hoping to find a permanent home for them. JD and I had discussed adopting a different cat (or two) because we didn't want to take these two away from my friend (who adores these kittens as much as we do). But then, while hosting the kittens, it became quite obvious that we needed Just Cat 1 and Just Cat 2 as much as they needed us. In fact, I cried after my friend came to pick them up Monday afternoon. (Yeah, talk about an unexpected emotion.)

Both kittens loved nuzzling with all three of us, and both really enjoyed playing with Just Son. Each morning we'd find them sitting just outside of JS's bedroom door, waiting for him to get up. The best part about the whole thing was watching how the kittens really brought out the best in JS. They bring out the best in all three of us, really.

To make a long story short (yeah, kinda late for that), Just Family is becoming a family of five. And that sounds purr-fectly lovely to me. :-D

Addendum: Here's a photo of them taken Monday. They fell asleep on JS's bed while we were waiting for my friend to pick them up.

I love it! You know, we added our kitten in a moment of me losing my mind, but to this day I'm so glad we have her. She's my pal and I miss her terrible when away from her. She's been a pal to all of our girls for many years and now she's all mine.

I can't wait to hear what names they really have. You could always opt for Mochi and Yodi like Jenna's two...or not, hehe.

Congrats on the addition and can't wait to see pics.
