In Which I Show My Girly Side And Talk Shoes

Before I start this post, let me preface it by saying that I am no fashion authority whatsoever -- especially when it comes to shoes. (I can totally see my mom vigorously nodding her head in agreement with that statement. Hi mom! :-D )

For years the main selling points when it came to shoes I purchased were: 1) is it flat, and 2) is it on sale? The shoes had to be flat because of my arthritic hips (and face it, my less-than-graceful tendencies). They also had to be on sale because, well, who doesn't like a good sale? ;-D

Anyway ... I don't know if I'm coming out of my shoe rut because of my new hip, but I've been obsessed with shoes lately. Especially sandals. With a wedge heel. So when I spotted these I had to buy them -- even if they took me out of my comfort zone:

I know from this angle the sandals look like any other dress sandal.

But look at it from the side.

Yeah, I hesitated a little when I saw how high the heels were. Sandals aren't supposed to have more than one inch of heel.

And then I almost got a nose-bleed looking at them from this angle.

But I decided to bring them home, try them with a few summer dresses I have, and I loved them.

I'm still a little shy about how tall they make me look when I wear them. (I'm about 5'4", and the sandals make me grow to about 5'8".)

But the price tag is helping me come out of my shell. ;-D

Really, though, I need your advice: Keep them, or return them?

Keep them, keep them, keep them! You'll love them in the end but don't go shopping in them!

Yup. Shopping requires combat-ready footwear. You know, in case of a great sale. ;-)

that is a holy halleluiah of a heel! being 5'8" is awesome.

Glad you included your height with them. I was wondering that as I was reading. If you like them - keep them. Plain and simple IMHO.

Being about 5'8" feels weird, HJ. But I think I could get used to the feeling.

The hubs was amused by the height difference. LOL!

And to think my girls are 5'9" barefooted.

I think they are fun and you should keep them for sure!

I'm in the age group were we wore the cork heals in the 70's, like the maxi dress, and I'm not ready to step back in time. You, on the other hand, should go for it!

I need a pair, then I can be 5'5"!

LOL!!

If you like them, and feel comfortable walking in them, KEEP THEM! If there is any doubt, return them...because they'll just sit in your closet. What size are they? You can send them my way! ;)

I have a pair of cork heals that I've yet to wear... maybe with that maxi dress I have in my closet... Hmmmm. Now we're thinkin'.

Must see them modeled to vote. ;o)

Keep them! Since I'm 5'9" and have to say the high wedge is one area of fashion in which I do not indulge. Not that there's anything wrong with being 6'1" in heels...but it's just not "me". haha

Oooooh, I would LOVE to be 5'8" . . . but alas those heels would only make me 5'6" . . . which I would LOVE as well . . . but oh the memory of when I was taking Ashley to pre-school with Jonathan in my arms. My sandals had a great incline that gave me some height . . . but unfortuately I stepped with one half of my foot on the sidewalk and half on the grass—and I fell down!! So I've been wearing lower heels ever since. But wow, would I love to be 5'8". I say keep 'em! : )

P.S. Neither Jonathan or I was hurt . . . just my pride. : )

You're still shorter than me! :)

And I had a pair a few years ago that were more casual, but with a heel similarly shaped (solid from heel to toe) and they were about 3 inches high. I'm 6 feet tall in my sock feet, have been known to say that I hate shoes and would rather do without them, and I LOVED those sandals. They were comfortable enough to grocery shop in.

I say if they are comfortable, keep them and enjoy the height!! :)
