That's how long it took Just Son to gain enough confidence to try once again to climb up, and then slide down one of these:
The last time he encountered one of those inflatable slide playground thingies was September 2009, when Just Dad and I worked at the Fall Fest at JS's former school. Back then, JS wasn't interested in making the climb up a "Death Slide" (my term, not his), and whooshing back down. But last night, he conquered it.
He was a little hesitant at first, simply because he wasn't quite sure how to navigate the soft steps and handles. In fact he'd climb up just a few steps, and then climb back down. (Thankfully we were there when it wasn't that crowded, and all the children interested in the obstacle course/slide were very patient and polite.)
I didn't want to force the issue, so we took a little break for juice. But then, JS surprised me by saying he wanted to try climbing all the way up again.
So we went back.
And he climbed.
And before I could get my camera out and focused on him, he climbed over and whooshed down the other side.
I guess it's my turn now to get over my fear of heights.

YAY JS!!! Woot! Woot!
I should expect the follow-up post, "Where JM conquers the Death Slide" sometime next week, then? ;-D
That DOES look like a terrifying climb up. I wouldn't have been brave enough to climb the Death Slide.
