I love books so much that I'm often reading two or three at the same time.
I mostly reach for devotionals or books on theology. Occasionally, I'll grab a classic, like Jane Eyre. Lately, I've had food on the brain. More specifically, I've been interested in the science behind cooking and baking. Enter, these books:

I absolutely love his show on the Food Network, so I couldn't resist buying three of his books when that Amazon gift card showed up in my mailbox. (Thank you, credit card rewards program.)
Yes, I know his recipes may not be as sophisticated as Ina's, as rich as Paula's or as flavorful as Rachael's, but he's the go-to guy if you just want to learn the basics so you understand why those other recipes work. I also enjoy his wacky sense of humor. He really makes cooking and baking less intimidating.
Yes, I've tried Ina's, Paula's and Rachael's recipes, and I've even made a few of Martha's. They've all been good, but I'm hoping that learning the science behind the methods will help me improve upon their recipes. (I can dream, can't I?) Besides, reading about food after JS goes to bed is a lot less fattening than eating food before bed.
What book, or books, are you reading now?

I have a couple of TBR piles but so far I have not started any of them yet.
Leslie Sansone's book, scriptures, The Pirate King by RA Salvatore, a John Weber book & a Juliet E McKenna book.
Haven't seen his show yet - gotta check the tv schedule. The kids were all entertained by the food network yesterday afternoon as I was getting supper ready. They were watching Paula Dean - Quintin thinks she sounds like a cowgirl!
Maybe I'll start reading these books to them for bedtime stories in an effort to create young chefs. (I can dream, can't I?)
Thanks for the new book recommendations - like Ginger said, I only listen to you - so I'm hopping on amazon NOW! BWA HA HA HA HA
I'm like you and often have several books going at once. I actually just cleared my nightstand and put a basket out for all my books, since I couldn't see my nightstand anymore. ;)
Right now I'm reading "Homeschooling for Dummies" and "Mary Pride's Complete Guide for Getting Started in Homeschooling" and "The Homeschooling Book of Answers" and "Sidetracked Home Executives." I guess I'm a theme-kind of girl too! :)
i just finished "Mulitple Blessings" by Kate Gosslein.
great back story on their faith since the show doesn't address it much.
I'm totally sucked into the Twlight series. I'm almost done with the 3rd book...then I'll only have 1 left to read!
Alton Brown is pretty cool.
I'm always re-reading 'Everyday Pasta' by Giada DeLaurentis. I've recently started a daily devotional, so that should keep me reading for awhile.
Happy Aloha Friday! =)
I honestly have over a dozen books started. I am almost done with Mia King's Good thing which is cute. I usually have only one fiction book started and the rest non-fiction are read a little at a time. I have the Secret Life of Bees on it's way from Paperback Swap!
My books are lame! I am finishing a degree in business management and are currently reading: Achieving Quality Through Continual Improvement. Modem Methods for Quality Control and Improvement. Value-Driven Operations Management. Pretty boring I tell ya! But I do read a passage each night before bed from my Devotional Bible for Mothers. I love that one!
Current readings _ Business Law Today; Business Ethics; Marketing 2.0; and Business Policy and Strategy :)
I am actually reading Havana Nocturne right now. I love history books and am facinated specifically how they relate to policics and current policies. Havana Nocturne deals with Cuba in the 1950's and the mob - so interesting
Since I've been unemployed, I've been reading about 4 books a week. I LOVE reading! I enjoy fiction - mystery, comedy, romance. However, I don't read more than one at a time!
Currently I'm reading Fashionably Late by Beth Kendrick. (I just got done reading her Nearlyweds.) I've got a stack of 7 library books waiting for me; authors are Marian Keyes, Nina Killham, & Deanna Kizis. If you notice, they all start with 'K'. That's because I got done reading Dean Koontz & Sophie Kinsella and decided to just stay on that same 'K' shelf and have been lucky just randomly picking good books off that same shelf!!
I really enjoy the Food Network; however, I personally can't stand Alton Brown. I think's it's his wacky sense of humor! :)~ My hubby likes him, though.
I am reading one I found in my daughter's room the other night called Kathy Little Bird.
I hope to start reading The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs one of these days.
My hubby is a food geek and loves Alton Brown. I will have to check out those book for him. He has actually managed to get our 5 year old son hooked on Good Eats.
Happy Reading!
I wish I could say I'm reading a good book right now, but I just haven't had the time...but there is nothing better than being in the middle of a good book!
Please check out my Aloha Friday question: http://eightymphmom.blogspot.com
Right now I am reading "Team of Rivals" - this is about President Lincoln and the assmeblage of his cabinet (the men he ran against for the Republican nomination - really interesting)
Whilst reading that, just finished "The Girl with No Shadow" - a sequel to Chocolat - a bit dark (no pun intended), but couldn't put it down.
And RIGHT before that I read "Firefly Lane" - a sweet little novel about friendship, given to me for my birthday.
Right now I am not reading anything. I need to get back into the series I was reading, before this blog addiction!!
i'm enjoying peace like a river by leif enger. i also read from a devotional book, voices of the faithful.
I just finished the book, "Fireflies in December".
I'm still trying to get through the latest Harry Potter book. It just isn't grabbing me like the others did.
